Gratitude (Şükür) Sacrifice

Express your thanks for a blessing or relief from hardship through a sacrifice.

Gratitude sacrifice

Share your gratitude

A gratitude (şükür) sacrifice is offered voluntarily to thank Allah for a blessing — recovery from illness, a new home, a new job or a success. With Bi'Adak you can arrange it in a few steps.

After the slaughter, the meat is delivered to your address or shared with people in need at the soup kitchen run in cooperation with Büyükçekmece Municipality.

Questions

Gratitude Sacrifice: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a gratitude and a vow sacrifice?

A vow sacrifice fulfils a promise tied to a wish coming true, and its meat goes to people in need. A gratitude sacrifice is offered voluntarily, without a prior promise, in thanks for a blessing.

Can I eat from a gratitude sacrifice?

Yes. The owner and their family may eat from it; sharing part of it with people in need is recommended.

How is the slaughter carried out?

After your order and proxy, your animal is checked by a veterinarian and then slaughtered by qualified staff, in accordance with Islamic rules and under hygienic conditions.

Do you slaughter without a proxy (vekalet)?

No. After your order request, our slaughterhouse staff call you (voice or video) to take your proxy; the slaughter is only carried out once you have given your approval.

For detailed religious guidance we recommend consulting the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı).
