Vow (Adak) Sacrifice

When your wish comes true, we fulfil your vow on your behalf — safely and traceably.

Vow sacrifice

The easy way to fulfil your vow

A vow (adak) sacrifice is an animal one has pledged to slaughter for the sake of Allah if a wish comes true. Once it does, the vow should be fulfilled at the first opportunity. With Bi'Adak you choose your animal and give your proxy by phone; we handle the slaughter and distribution on your behalf.

Because the meat of a vow sacrifice goes to people in need, many of our donors choose the soup kitchen donation option, where the meat is served as hot meals at the Büyükçekmece Municipality soup kitchen.

  • Small or large animal

Questions

Vow Sacrifice: frequently asked questions

What is a vow (adak) sacrifice?

A vow (adak, Arabic nadhr) is when a person makes binding upon themselves, for the sake of Allah, an act of worship that is not otherwise obligatory for them. A vow sacrifice is the animal slaughtered to fulfil that promise — usually made conditional on a wish coming true and carried out once it does.

Who may not eat the meat of a vow sacrifice?

The meat of a vow sacrifice is given to people in need. The person who made the vow, their spouse, parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren may not eat from it, and neither may other well-off people.

When should a vow sacrifice be made?

A vow tied to a condition should be fulfilled at the first opportunity once the condition is met. An unconditional vow may be fulfilled at any time, although it is better not to delay it.

Do you slaughter without a proxy (vekalet)?

No. After your order request, our slaughterhouse staff call you (voice or video) to take your proxy; the slaughter is only carried out once you have given your approval.

For detailed religious guidance we recommend consulting the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı).
